While preparing for the Super Bowl , the NFL Environmental Program planted over a thousand trees in the Tampa area along the McKay Creek Greenway, Terra Ceia Shoreline, and certain downtown regions. The trees included 700 red mangroves and 400 native species. Way to go NFL!

Australian artists Peter Cook (Pook) and Becky Northey shape living trees into sculptures, growing chairs and tables and mirror frames, even candelabras and people trees. Their partnership, Pooktre Tree Shapers, uses wild plum and black cherry for their art, which takes as long as 8 to 10 years to grow for the bigger pieces.
