Here’s a round-up of the funniest things in the blogitat this week… Treehumper takes a look at the White House’s new farmers market in “I’m not sayin Obama’s a Nazi, just that his Commie vegetables are going to kill your grandma.” Is it a creative way to cut the deficit or are CSAs (Communist Supported [...]
Sunday (not so) Funnies… Normally I find George Carlin hilarious and I have an affinity for poking fun at things that are important to me, but I was really disappointed when I watched his bit on “Saving the Planet,” (the video is at the end of the post). I understand it’s just a comedy routine, and [...]
My friend Greg sent me this photo he took of a cryptic public message posted above a urinal in a bathroom at the airport in Taipei. I was a little puzzled about how you can make the environment better by standing closer to a Taiwanese toilet. Greg theorized that standing closer means less spillage and less toxic cleaning products that need to be used to clean up after sloppy travelers. I can see that but it's a bit of a stretch. My guess is that they are using the word "environment" to mean the shared space around you. In other words the bathroom will be a nicer environment when you don't have to stand in urine.
In other words, "Don't leave you sh!t for someone else to deal with! We are all contributing to climate change so we are the ones that need to do something about it."
In a move to clean up their image around the galaxy the Empire has replaced their fleet of Speeder Bikes with giant chipmunks. Citing the lower carbon emissions and the fact that chipmunks don't explode when they hit a tree, the Empire insists they are doing their part to protect the fragile environment of Endor. Critics have dismissed this as green washing citing the Empire's continued use of the enormous AT-AT Walkers which one study shows release more toxic gasses into the atmosphere than Jaba the Hutt.
While Earth Day turns 40 today, for me it's about 19 years old. Here are some old Earth Day videos I remember from growing up...
The Green Team is on the scene so you better watch out! Warning: NSFW (Not Safe For Work for the acronymally challenged like myself)
Finally an answer to the diaper debate, which one do I choose? Disposable or Cloth?… Neither! And, no we aren’t talking about gDiapers. We are talking Chewable Pampers.
