OSRAM, along with designer Ingo Maurer, unveiled it the “Early Future” OLED lamp at the Lighting & Building Fair this week. While it is not available to the public yet, this could be the first OLED light to hit the the shelves. The highly anticipated OLED technology is known for it’s high efficiency & low energy consumption, super long life and mercury free design. The “Early Future” is made up of ten distinct OLED tiles measuring 132 x 33 mm each providing eco-friendly light in an elegant design. OSRAM explains that this is just a step towards the full potential of the OLED lights. Down the road they plan to take advantage of the OLED’s unique property to create applications such as a completely transparent OLED Skylight that will let sunlight through in the day and provide light at night.
