They call it “Trashion.” Everyday gear that is tough as a tank, refurbished from old tires, shoes, trading cards, fixtures, you name it. Refinding.com offers beautiful and durable “Trashion” products that anyone could use in their everyday life. The Big Tire Bag is a hefty 5lbs so you better have some guns to tote this around. Materials used include tire tread, inner tube, and a seatbelt shoulder strap. Each bag is handmade and unique with variations depending on the trash put back to use. Um Felt Handbags

clip_image002

Made from pressed wool derived from factory excess Josh Jakus has designed a simply marvelous product. The Um is handmade in San Francisco using all natural materials. The recycled organic wool is repurposed into a luxurious designer quality carry all ranging in shapes and sizes. Josh ingeniously added a third dimension to a flat shape using just a zipper. This creative twist gives the Um great appeal. Perhaps the three dimensional vision comes from Josh Jakus’ formal training in architecture. The Um line ranges from clutch sized bag to larger carry-alls and are part of many useful designs of a similar ilk from Josh.

Ecoist Confetti Clutch

This eye popping, colorful, head swiveling purse is made from repurposed candy wrappers!  I have dabbled in origami but have never made anything nearly so useful. Qwerty Hairband by Greenergrass Designs

image

When I was in college I took apart my roommates keyboard and nailed the keys to his door to give him a friendly greeting. Maybe not the best use for someone else’s electronics but Secco has a creative idea with the Qwerty Hairband. Taru Norberg is the designer behind this product. Even better still is you may get a surprise if you order one. Taru uses cash register, typewriter, and computer keyboard keys to mix up the shape, size, and color of her assorted jewelry. Way to reclaim Taru!

The Brelli Sustainable, Stylish & Sturdy Umbrella

image

This eco-friendly umbrella is made to last and it’s made from recyclable materials, but the designers made it completely biodegradable just incase it still ends up in a landfill.  Made from bamboo, a plant that is naturally good at weathering a storm, it should hold up in some of the roughest conditions.  Instead of the traditional dark nylon canopy the Brelli boasts a patent pending clear canopy that is completely biodegradable.  Taking it a step further, they made sure to use materials that release only harmless gas when they do biodegrade.  The result is a durable and beautiful umbrella you wont want to throw out, but one that wont harm the planet if you do.
