Matt Embrey

Matt is always striving to make a difference. He's been involved in public service since he was a teen, and his love for the outdoors goes even further back, but he hasn't always been Green. "...not too long ago I was hanging out with my 5 year old niece and I asked her what she wanted to do for the day. She said she wanted to go down to the park and pick up litter because it was making mother nature sad. I always talk to her about the importance of being kind to mother nature but I realized that besides not littering, I did very little, partly because I felt overwhelmed by weight of 'Going Green'. The simplicity in her approach made me realize that 'Going Green' starts with action, and inspired me to start my journey to a more sustainable life."

Far Foods Carbon Footprint Labels

So you are buying organic and mostly local, that’s pretty good, but if you live in New England like me come winter time local produce is a little harder to come by so end up buying tomatoes from… China!? The fact is there’s no reliable and easy way to know where your produce is [...]

DIY: Turn Your Camera into a Scanner or Copier

Posted on August 11, 2009 by Matt Embrey .

Over the years I’ve been consolidating my stuff.  As appliances and computer peripherals have died I haven’t replaced them unless they were an absolute necessity. My mircrowave died and now I just cook things that don’t require a microwave (which is healthier anyway).  Another piece of machineryI haven’t had for years is a scanner/fax.  With [...]

If you are going green on the go, when it’s time for lunch you need to lose the brown bag, tin foil, seran wrap and paper napkins.  You could fill your pockets with potato salad or get a reusable lunch bag and a bento lunch box.  Our friend and write  Becky from Glue & Glitter [...]

It means becoming more self-sufficient and less dependant on imports. Control moves from the boardrooms of distant corporations and back into the community [...]
