Grain Surfboards are made from locally grown wood cut by sustainable forestry pros. Plus the folks over at Grain reuse the wood by-product for fuel, compost & wood chips. While it is not a completely “Green” process (they still employ the use of chemicals and petroleum based products), the wood boards offer a much “Greener” alternative to foam core boards and their due to their beauty and durability, they are unlikely to end up in a landfill.
Grain Surfboards began in the basement of founder, Mike LaVecchia’s York, ME home, minutes from the beach but has grown to be a leader in the sustainable surfboard market. His company combines classic board building techniques, modern design and environmentally friendly practices to produce boards that look amazing and ride even better. Currently Grain offers 9 different models and a Do it Yourself Kit.
