My friend Greg sent me this photo he took of a cryptic public message posted above a urinal in a bathroom at the airport in Taipei. I was a little puzzled about how you can make the environment better by standing closer to a Taiwanese toilet. Greg theorized that standing closer means less spillage and less toxic cleaning products that need to be used to clean up after sloppy travelers. I can see that but it's a bit of a stretch. My guess is that they are using the word "environment" to mean the shared space around you. In other words the bathroom will be a nicer environment when you don't have to stand in urine. What do you think? Is this an effort to improve sustainability or just keep pee off the floor?
