Looking for Love in all the Right Places

Green and single on Valentine’s Day again???  Don’t give up all hope just yet and confine yourself to a life of a lonely, middle-aged ecosexual with a house full of cats, bamboo and organic vegetables.  There are many dating sites on the internet made just for people like you.  Dating sites specifically designed to hook up green, socially aware, animal loving, peace loving, earth loving singles.  Not into “electronic” love?  There are also several introduction services made for environmentally aware singles.

Some of the services have been around for a long time.  Concerned Singles has celebrated it’s 25th year in the business of finding people who share lifestyles and views.  The aptly named Green Singles has been in business for nearly as long.  On your profiles of these sites you can state what you’re into and what you’re looking for.  There are sections for yoga enthusiasts, politically minded individuals, vegetarians, vegans, holisitic living, social awareness, organic growers, humanitarians, etc.  Whether you’re looking for a red-headed recycler or a vivacious vegan, these sites promise to help you find true love.

Some of the services are relative new comers on the scene, such as Earth Wise Singles where you can try out the service free for one week!  This site began in 2004 and is geared toward “lovers of the outdoors, friends of Mother Earth, green-living and socially responsible adults”.  Another is Green Passions which is an entirely free social networking site aimed at tree-huggers who are interested in endangered species, recycling, organic farming, animal rights and alternative energy.  The site boasts a dating section as well as green forums and chats.

There is an entire market made up of just vegetarian dating sites if that’s what floats your boat.  There’s Veggie Community which offers dating services and social networking for raw foodists, vegetarians, vegans and the like.  There’s Veggie Connection which proclaims to be a world-wide veggie community for people looking for romance and friendship.  Or how about Veggie Love which states it is a “meat-free zone” for people who seek and value a vegetable based diet to connect for marriage, friendship, romance or just an exchange of ideas — maybe a great place to get some new recipes!

Afraid an online dating service is not for you?  Think your Mr. Right and Green might be a meat eating, kitten fisher?  Maybe you’d like a face-to-face introductory site instead.  Give Green Drinks a try.  They set up social get togethers with green singles by area.  They’re an international organization that encourages groups in different areas to get together and socialize.  You might find your true love, a new friend or even a new job.  Once you’ve found Mr. or Mrs. Right, you should check out some Valentine’s Day gift ideas for those of us who love our planet.
