Gilles Eichenbaum, also known as Garbage, is a Paris based designer and artist who melds antique household items into captivating light fixtures. Truly gorgeous.
Garbage claims to be an adventurer at heart and came into this trade by manufacturer common necessities using that which he found on his travels. If he were camping in a far off land or living out of a truck, Gillies would use an old pot as a lampshade or chair from scrap wood. Eventually it become such a pastime, and he intrigued those around him with his unique use of odd objects, that he began to sell his creation for a profit.
His slogan: “Your dustbins have talent!”
Using items such as old coffee pots, frying pans, utensils, shoe lasts, electric drills, tea pots, colanders, a top hat, a phone, each matched with other objects to create timeless and forever useful pieces of decorative furnishings. Gillies promotes himself as a craftsman first and foremost yet has an unarguable artistic eye.
