Here's a transportation option for the short commute: the Altered M4 800. This little electric vehicle can be parked just about anywhere, maybe even under your desk. It looks like a toy, like a remote-control monster truck, but it'll carry up to 260 pounds and can accelerate from 0-20 MPH in five seconds. I'm thinking that you probably ought to wear a helmet when you buzz down to the post office on this thing.
The M4 sports 9" all terrain pneumatic tires that look like they could just take off, making me wonder just how far off-road this board will go. There's no suspension, but the trucks look sturdy enough. The speed and braking is controlled by a wireless handset, and the braking is done by a heavy-duty regenerative motor. Charge time for the 36 Volt battery is 2 to 4 hours, and the range is 10 to 12 miles.
The Altered M4 800 will set you back about eight hundred dollars, but for a hill-climbing skateboard with a wireless controller, that's not too shabby.
