Oops, That was a Mistake. Adventures in Marketing

I’d like to explain the ad that some of you may have seen Saturday night on this site…

In an effort to keep food on the table I figured I’d sign up for an ad network and have a few tasteful ads that offer useful services here on greenupgrader.  So I signed up with one of the top ad networks and described our site and the type of ads we wanted to show.  It said it would take a few hours so I left my site in “good hands” and headed out with some friends for a couple rounds of the barley juice.

I returned to find CJ Gibson gracing our front page.  I curiously clicked on the ad and it brought me to http://www.pherlure.com/.  A video started playing and right away CJ asked me “Are you looking for an easier way to attract more women?”  I shyly nodded yes and blushed.  CJ when on to explain that Science has found an answer!  She confided in me that women don’t choose their men based on looks (which is disappointing because I’m very good looking), they base their choices on scent.  Apparently Science concluded that pheromones are the secret to picking up chicks and all you need is their exclusive synthetic pheromone blend Pherlure.  She told me that based on a scientific study Pherlure has a 98.8% success rate.  I’m pretty sure I read about that peer reviewed double blind study on PubMed.  Isn’t that how most scientific breakthroughs are released to the public…for sale on a single paged website by a scantily clad model with less acting ability than 6 year old?

Anyway, I’ll let you know in 3-5 days if it works.  I may have accidentally ordered the perfume instead of the cologne but it should work the same… right?

Back to the advertising… I just really want to commend that ad network on so effectively targeting their ad to the demographics of our site.  In the weeks to come, as you would expect from a “Green” website you’ll probably see some ads for herbal viagra and online casinos.  Oh, by the way, let me get off topic for a minute, I got an email from the widow of the former prince of Nigeria.  Apparently she needs our help getting $80 million out of the country.  I’ll keep you posted on how you can pitch in.

Thanks for your patience,

Matt
