Avita Eco-Chic Guilt Free Recycled Cashmere
Posted on November 5, 2008 by Doug Gunzelmann in Clothes+Accessories
Amanda Shi claims the credit behind this eco-friendly high fashion line. Comprised of sweaters, dresses, skirts, shirts, tank tops, “indulging customers in high fashion and social awareness” by using sustainable and recycled materials.
Based out of L.A. the clothing line Avita also uses bamboo based fabrics and organic cottons. Avita is in the process of forming he avitaNETWORK of eco minded designers linking their ideas to their markets and bringing textile manufacturers to those interested in using sustainable and earth friendly materials.
The cashmere used for the recycled materials is actually byproduct from cashmere yarn spinning facilities (it would be quite difficult to collect used sweaters in the quantity needed to make and sell a cloths line). The excess from the spinning process is sold to Avita and actually contains some wool fibers, so isn’t 100% cashmere, but it is totally recycled!
Check out Avita and all the styles offered.

I love these clothing styles! It makes me so happy to hear about more recycled material clothing lines. Is the Avita line only available in L.A.?
Thank you for the great post!
