Studio OOOMS, a quirky design firm from the Netherlands has come up with a way to bring nature back into the office with their Wooden USB stick. At just over a hundred dollars, they aren’t cheap, but consider it a functional piece of art. They can be found here in the U.S. at the Cooper Hewitt Design Shop. For another option, the MOMA design store has a realistic looking Squid USB Stick currently on sale. I think I might have to buy one for myself.

HA! Very cool idea. The ‘in action’ shot over at OOOMS looks great - a twig sticking out of the front of a mac desktop. It’s a great conversation starter if nothing else.

What a great idea! It might be a bit hard to carry around in the pocket! If someone was pretty handy, they could probably reuse some of the usb sticks they have lying around and make something similar our of objects they have around the house.

not really green is it though? Its just like buying a lump of coal and putting it in a wooden box before burning it. it looks natural but its the same as any other usb but with a thin veneer of “greenness” around it.

No it’s not necessarily green (I haven’t done a carbon footprint analysis on this) and the author never said that it was.
