Plant More Trees Please

Check out this beautiful Indian ad encouraging people to plant more trees.  In Indian culture there is a ritual where married women gather and pray at a Banyan tree for their husband’s long life.  The ad is showing that at the rapid rate of deforestation soon Indian women will have to find a substitute for the tree… a telephone pole in this case.

Rather than depict what will happen to the world without trees, this ad focuses on the trees role in this culture.  The Banyan tree is very important in Indian culture, and so the ad aims to catch some peoples attention that may not otherwise be concerned about the environment, but who will steadfastly defend their cultural heritage.  Very clever, and beautiful ad!

And cut down trees, too. There is a new plastic that is cheap, strong, biodegradable and recyclable. It is used to make oxo-biodegradable plastic garbage bags and other disposable items. Read about why it is preferable to other disposable alternatives, including paper alternatives made out of trees, at:

I was talking with a friend from church the other day and he was talking about “tree bombs” being dropped from airplanes. They plant themselves.

    Great post.

800 endangered storks recently died when the Banyan tree they roosted in collapsed. If there had been more trees, fewer birds would have died.
