iYo Yo-Yo Makes Charging Electronics Fun

Swedish designer Peter Thuvander has thought up one of the most interesting gadget charger designs I’ve seen in awhile. The iYo Yo Yo is—you guessed it—a yo-yo that charges electronic devices. The yo-yo, which is still only in the concept phase, stores energy in a lithium-ion battery which can be used to charge your iPod or iPhone.

If the iYo ever does end up on the market, it would be a great way to get kids (or adults) to inadvertently produce energy as a byproduct of having fun.

    Mindblowingly awesome.

This is a perfect “tool” for kids! I would assume that it might be able to charge a cell-phone?

What ever happened to the stationary bikes that powered TV’s? (from the mid 80’s)

  3. Fabulously fun - with a good message: that monotonous mechanical gadget-charging is the unimaginative way to do it.

When some effective way is found to harness some of the energy we burn off during sports, mechanical energy-gathering will truly come of age.

    That is an awesome redesign.
