filigree tea light

This is an old hairspray canister that has been meticulously worked into a filigree pattern candle holder. Filigree is lace patterned metal work or jewelry styling that dates back in popularity to 17th century France. The beauty of upcycling or repurposing is the a little elbow grease and imagination (free and sustainable!) brings meaning and life to refuse. This tea light is available for purchase but perhaps more importantly serves as inspiration for an idea of your own.

Wow. That’s intricate. I love how many artisans are creating amazing works of art and home decor out of reused and recycled materials. I just hope it doesn’t get too hot when there’s a candle burning. My cat’s get curious…
