The Honey House Earthbag Dome
The Honey House is a 12′ diameter earthbag dome that was built for less than $1500 out of mostly natural materials. Earthbag’s (or sandbags) are simply sacks filled with earth and stacked to form a structure. These guys didn’t actually build the house to live in, they were making a movie about a woman who lived in an earthbag house entitled “Honey’s House.” They built this one to substantiate the claims of their heroin that praise earthbag building. I’m pretty sure the top photo is actually an art installation from New Harmony, Indiana. Unfortunately, it burned to the ground about a year or two ago. I don’t have the artist’s name, but I could get for you if you wish.
