Does your kiddo have a Halloween party at school on Friday or over the weekend? This super cute bottlecap pumpkin necklace is just the thing to add a little pizazz to his or her getup - or to yours!
Some cities recycled metal bottlecaps, but not all of them do. Metal recycling is pretty efficient, but any recycling process uses energy. That means that by diverting some bottlecaps from the waste stream you're not just getting free craft supplies - you're conserving energy at the same time!
Just save a bottlecap or two from your next beer or sodapop, and you're ready to get crafty! What I love about this idea is that you could really use this idea for all kinds of designs. Not partial to pumpkins? Draw a bat or a witch instead! Want something that your kids can wear year-round? Let them paint something more ever-green, like a flower, a tree, or even something abstract.
All you need to make your bottlecap necklace are:
- a reclaimed bottlecap
- acrylic paint and a brush
- permanent marker
- ribbon or reclaimed chain
- hammer and a small nail
