this makes no sense due to the increased weight / mass (they both matter for different reasons- go do your physics) you are carrying around it may have more to do with fluctuating gas prices or different route

dude actually you are closer to the truth than you think, pushing your car in parking lots or driveways where you can such that it avoids 10 seconds of engine running and a few reverse / forward changes can do wonders.

you might be surprised what you can and can’t do with your Jetta, I am getting an old 1990 Toyota pickup up to 31 mpg. But again yes cruise control should be a good thing depending on the car and the driver

Another way to increase mileage is to reset your mpg meter if you have one. By being careful not to overuse the brakes or pump the accelerator unecessarily, you can make a game of getting a high meter reading. It really increases as you coast down hills without using the gas. Of course, learning to read the posted speed limit signs helps too… it’s amazing how much speeding will decrease the mileage.
