The Mountain Equipment Co-op MEC Streamline Jacket uses 100% recycled polyester Versatech Lite Matrix rip-stop material. This source of polyester comes from industrial waste and requires 75% less oil consumption for its processing than conventional polyester materials, and keeps that raw material out of the dump. The Streamline is a lightweight windbreaker with a comfortable fit perfect for cycling, running, or any sort of high paced ninja activities!

3. ECO Ether Series Sleeping Pad: $70 at REI.com

Pacific Outdoor Equipment has been on our radar as a strong example of eco-minded outdoor gear providers. Their ECO series tout their efforts to produce carbon neutral gear. They purchase wind and solar power to offset carbon production from the manufacturing and shipment of their goods. The Ether Thermo 6 Sleeping Pad using undyed bamboo fibers, carbonized bamboo fiber fill, and they won the Backpacker Magazine Editor’s Green Choice Award. The Ether is a three season inflatable pad available for both men and women.

5. Zero Snowboard: $700 at Evogear.com

The K2 Zero Snowboard introduces the Harshmellow compound core built in a matrix format using less materials and bamboo to create a smooth downhill ride. The use of ultra-strong design allows for a lighter board which means less materials, and less manufacturing, and less waste.

7. Mountainsmith Spire Backpack: $67 at Evogear.com

The Spire pack from Mountainsmith uses recycled PET fabric. The rip-stop liner, reinforcement straps, and main body fabric are all recycled PET. Aside from that the Spire offers all the amenities a true backcountry pack should such as a hydration sleeve and port, gear straps, compression bands, pivoting waste belt, air mesh backing to keep cool, mesh sleeves, and it weighs in at only about 2.5lbs at a 31L volume.

7. Big Agnes Skinny Fish: $180 at REI.com

What is green about the Big Agnes Skinny Fish sleeping bag…about 97% of its materials. The shell, insulation, lining, cords, and stuff sack are all recycled materials. The high loft insulating Climashield HL Green is 100% recycled as well as the nylon lining. The Big Agnes Skinny Fish also comes equipped with a pillow sleeve and draft tube to block airflow around the zipper enclosure. The bag is rated to 20 degrees and weighs about 4lbs.
