Here's another strikingly sustainable piece by Cliff Spencer.  This oak table and bench is made from reclaimed oak staves, used in wine-aging process at California wineries, non-toxic adhesives and a water based finish.  The rich color of the wood comes from the grapes that are fermented in the Oak staves.  While the wood imparts a subtle flavor to the wine, the grapes leave a rich and unique stain on the wood.  Spencer custom makes each piece so no two are exactly alike.  Upgrade: $6,800.  More photos after the jump...image

    That’s a great oak table Matt. We have offered customers some finger jointed oak with a dark stained lacquer that have a similar appearance. I love how you have incorporated the wine link though, a great selling point to wine lover like me! Dark oak doesnt appear to be that popular in the UK for us at the moment are the traditional white oak dining tables are very popular but i’m sure that Dark oak is gradually getting more popular. Excellent article.

    Reclaimed wood is always expensive to purchase. But the quality is a level above the rest because of the factory refurbishing.

    As a mere hobbyist woodworker I can only dream of such pieces, it is absolutely beautiful. However I have often had the pleasure of working with reclaimed wood and have to say I find it a real pleasure – if somewhat harder at times.
