As I'm sure you know by now, I'm a big fan of succulents. They're easy to grow, they don't need to be watered too terribly often, and they're a great way to add green to small spaces. Not too long ago, we shared a stunning upcycled succulent planter table.

Reader Diane Vautier shared some photos with me of the succulent table she created. Diane says:

I did something similar but on a much smaller scale with a discarded dresser drawer. It’s lots of fun to let imaginations run wild with upcycled materials.

She was also kind enough to share how she made this beautiful succulent table:

I used a dresser drawer (that I found on the side of the road that had been put out for trash). Cleaned it up, removed hardware, added legs (made from 2″ x 2″ that I had the store cut for me), painted it white (to match my house decor), lined it with plastic, planted some plants (hens & chickens and some colorful vining stuff, added flat rocks (so I can use it for a side table – and have a glass etc on it), and then topped the soil with sheet moss. It’s outside right now, but will come inside for the winter.

Don't you just love a good find from the side of the road? I think this project really exemplifies what craftivism is all about: using crafty skills to turn an object that was headed for the landfill into something beautiful and new. High five, Diane!
