That jar of jam or pasta sauce is useful long after you've eaten the contents. Scrub that sucker out, and use your crafty skills to give an old jar a brand new life!
One of the tricks with glass jars is getting the food smell out. A round in the dishwasher doesn't always do the trick. If your jars still smell after the dishwasher, try soaking the jars and lids in water with a healthy dash of lemon juice overnight. The acid in the lemon should help get those stubborn smells out. If the glass is still smelly, try boiling them on the stove.
You'll also need to remove the labels. Start by peeling off what you can, and then use an orange oil product, like Goo Gone, to remove any stubborn labels.
Now that you've got clean, non-smelly jars, you're ready to get crafty!
