Jennifer Berry from Earth911 shows us how to turn an unused book into a sweet, upcycled vase! This paper vase can't hold water, but how cute would it be if you filled it up with fabric forever flowers?
All you need to get going are an old book, some reclaimed cardboard to create your template, an exacto or box cutter, glue, and scissors. I think what makes this project extra fun is that you can cut your vase into any shape you like! Berry snagged this project idea from Country Living (it's slide #7), and I highly recommend checking out their tutorial if you need more deets on how to execute it. Here's the video to get you started:
It does make me wonder about other fun book crafts you can do! I've done my share of magazine crafts, but I don't cut books up quite as often.
The trick with book crafting is to do your research before you get started. You don't want to cut into a collectors item, so do a bit of googling to see if you've got your hands on something special before you cut or glue a thing.
Have you guys made anything fun out of old books? I'd love to hear what's up in your craft rooms!
