Wait! Before you say "GROSS" and move on, hear me out, OK?
Shower Stats
The average shower uses around 2.5 gallons of water every minute. That means that if you take a 5 minute shower every day of the week, you're using over 4500 gallons of water per year. And a 5 minute shower is a pretty quick affair. Most of us are in there for longer than that.
Still, let's stick with a conservative 5 minute shower.
If you skipped showering one day each week, you'd be saving 650 gallons of water per year! Imagine the impact if we all skipped just one little shower every week. Your skipped shower could be on a weekend when you haven't done too much or on a week day, if you're comfortable heading to work or school without showering.
Staying Clean with Less Water
Skipping a shower doesn't mean skipping on hygiene. You can still put on deodorant and wash your face. Heck, you can even use a dry shampoo to keep you hair looking clean without turning on the tap.
If you feel a little bit stinky at first, you can even use a washcloth, soap, and a small amount of water to clean your pits. That goes a long way if you feel like skipping a shower means saying yes to BO.
Heck, you might just find that you can skip two showers a week!
How often do you guys shower? Since I work from home, I tend to shower every other day, if I'm not working up a sweat. I've been known to skip two days, but that feels like it pushes the boundaries of good hygiene.
So, who's in?
