It's finally warming up around here, and I am so over the constantly dry knees, feet, and elbows that plague me all winter long. Luckily, the lovely Tracy of Strawberry Hedgehog sent me a little tub of her vegan Whipped Body Crème to try out!
Goodness gracious, this might be the best lotion I've ever tried.
When you open the jar, it refreshingly smells like....nothing. There is no wafting of artificial perfumey scents! I took a closer sniff, and it smells almost a little bit like the home-made play dough we'd make when I was a kid. The lotion contains all natural ingredients and no animal products, parabens, or chemical preservatives like you find in many store-bought lotions. Here's the full ingredients list:
herbal tisane, organic aloe vera juice, veggie emulsifying wax, veggie glycerin, organic sweet almond oil, organic apricot kernel oil, organic fair trade unrefined shea butter infused with herbs, organic fair trade cocoa butter, grapefruit seed extract, rosemary extract, vitamin e (soy), organic food grade extracts
The cream is very rich but not greasy. It absorbs pretty quickly and it so far has lasted a lot longer than the natural store-bought lotions I've tried. And believe me, I've tried many! Not only that, it comes in a cute miniature glass mason jar, so when the cream's all gone, you're not left with a useless plastic tube. Instead, you've got a handy glass jar that you can reuse in all sorts of ways!
Since it's made without any preservatives, Tracy does recommend using the lotion within 3 months of purchase. She also suggests keeping it in the fridge to help it last a bit longer.
If you want to pick up your own tub of Whipped Body Crème or read more of Tracy's tips on increasing its shelf life, head on over to the Strawberry Hedgehog store!
