Everybody wants to get in on the energy-saving game. But it's hard to tell how and where you can save electricity in your home if you don't know how much everything is using at any given time.
But designers of the Powerhouse Dynamics eMonitor from Energy Circle hope to change all that, saying the new device is going to shift the way people interact with home energy, saving them hundreds of dollars annually via intuitive use of web technology.
The Powerhouse Dynamics eMonitor is the world's first comprehensive, affordable, per circuit home energy monitoring and energy management system.
What does that mean exactly? It means it will measure how much electricity each individual thing in your house is using, and how much it's costing you
so you can adjust your behavior accordingly. Also, the eMonitor can be a helpful tool for homeowners who already have tiered electricity pricing or time-of-use metering from their electric utility.
The product just began shipping last month and early purchasers have included some Apple and Google engineers. And considering that the eMonitor is one of the first to use the newly opened Google PowerMeter API,
Designers of the eMonitor say it is "future ready," including the ability to communicate with smart thermostats and home controller devices.
Due to high demand on the $689 eMonitors, units will ship about 3-4 weeks after the order is placed.
