Oh, greeting cards! You make us feel so torn. Yes, conventional greeting cards have a super-short lifespan, but there's something so special about getting a card in the mail for special occasions. We've looked at alternatives to run-of-the-mill greeting cards before and even talked about ways to reuse them when you pull them down from the mantle.
A London-based design company is working to change all of that with genius postcards that transform into usable, edible mini gardens!
Instead of the usual card that heads quickly to the recycle bin, your giftee gets to turn the card, with just a little glue or tape, into something that will remind them of you every time they see it. Unfortunately, they're not able to ship outside of the E.U. right now:
Most countries outside the EU have restrictions on importing seeds. It is possible to send seeds to a country not in the EU but we need to obtain a certificate or permit prior to shipping. On small orders this is not feasible but we are happy to look into gaining certificates to ship large wholesale units outside the EU.
With a product this ingenious, surely a U.S. retailer will step up before too long!
Each Postcarden comes with seeds for growing edible cress that should begin sprouting within a week of planting. The plants are very low maintenance - they just need a bit of water from time to time and a warm, sunny spot in your house or office to thrive!
Want to see how they work? The PostCarden folks have put together an informative stop-motion video to show you:

best,

hey man come on this is good stuff
this seems very good until i realize how many seeds are used in the process only to germinate into tiny seedlings though likely not much more before outgrowing their post-card garden
